Having a Teen Party Planner seems to be something that could be really useful.

My most frequently asked question by teens is "What kind of party should I have?"

This page will help you get started planning a great party. Before you even think about party themes or party games, these tips are a great starting point.

What kind of party do you want to have?

What is your dream party?

If you are starting from square one when planning a teen party, there are a lot of decisions to be made.

Don't worry. This teen party planner will help!

Having the Party at Home

Doing a party at home can be cheaper, but you have to make sure you have enough room for your guests plus whatever activities you'll want to do.

These kind of parties are fun, because you can do a theme. Some of the most popular themes include:

  • Backwards Party
  • Hollywood Party
  • Luau Party
  • More Themes
  • If you don't have to have a theme, you can always have a more "classic" teen party.
  • Figure out what you'll want to do at your party.
  • Dancing? Swimming? Games?

  • Having a Party Someplace Else

The most popular reasons to have a party someplace else are:

  • Too many guests and not enough space
  • Parents don't want everyone over to the house
  • Less getting ready before the party and less cleanup after the party
  • More room for activities such as dancing

  • Places to have a party and do it cheaply might be at a recreation center, masonic lodge or church.Other popular places to have a teen party are at a beach (if one is close by), a swimming pool, or a park. If you are planning a more formal teen party, you might need to look into an event center such as a hotel or country club. You can still plan out a great theme, but you'll need to make sure that your budget can handle the cost of the location you select. Having the party at home is free, to have a party someplace else you'll have to rent the facility.

  • Destination Parties

An option for doing a party away from home is having a destination party, where you go someplace such as a restaurant, sporting event, bowling alley, laser tag place, skateboard park, spa...etc. More info on Destination Parties

A twist on doing a destination party is going on a Scavenger Hunt. You split into teams, and then join up at the end. Your guests don't stay together, but it is a lot of fun.  More info on Scavenger Hunts

    How do you Decide?

  • Probably the biggest factors influencing where you will have your party and what type of party it is are:
  • How much money to have to spend for the party? You'll need to cover invitations, decorations, food and drinks, plus any party supplies for activities and favors.
  • How many people are you inviting? If you are wanting to invite a lot of people, but don't have a large house, you'll have to find an alternate location!

  • Making Adjustments to your Teen Party Planner

Have an party idea that you love?

    Great!

Will you be able to do your party within your budget? If not, look at what things you can change. Perhaps if a party with dancing, instead of a band, or DJ, plug in your ipod or MP3 to a speaker. Instead of buying decorations, see what if you can make party decorations.

    Finally...

Will your parents agree to it? Make sure your parents are on board, especially if they are paying for the party!

Now that you have some ideas, you can explore these party themes some more or party games!
