I've been planning too many parties! How did the Maisy Party come about?

Sitting and watching Maisy with my children one day, I started jotting down ideas for a Maisy Mouse party! I just can't help myself!

Everyone loves Maisy, the bright colors and cute drawings are loved the world over, so it can easily become a great kid party idea.

Adapting your child's favorite characters for a party theme

It is easy to create your own party theme around your child's favorite characters, books, or movies.

Simply find common elements around your character - colors, shapes, and look for traits or experiences that the character has or that are well-known.

With these things in mind, adapt favorite preschool age party games or kid party games to your character! (Read about how I did this with a Rudoph party too!)

Creating Maisy Party Ideas

For party invitations, you can probably find some licensed character invites. If not, try card stock in bright colors and use a thick black marker to write the party details.

To create your own festive party, use lots of balloons and streamers in the colors of orange, green, red, blue, white.

You might also try to find some Maisy coloring pages for kids to color when they arrive at the party. You can even include one with the invitation for fun!

Other ideas for your Maisy party include things that Maisy has done her books and include:

  • Decorate a drum (made from a coffee can or similar)
  • Build with colorful building blocks
  • Build with giant, colorful building blocks! Decorate cardboard boxes, show boxes, or tissue boxes with colored wrapping paper and let the kids build to their hearts content.
  • Sing along with your favorite songs: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Itsy bitsy spider, etc. and others from our games for young children list. One favorite is The Wheels on the Bus. Here are the words:
  • The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round The wheels on the bus go round and round, all around the town.

The horn on the bus goes beep beep beep, beep beep beep, beep beep beep. The horn on the bus goes beep beep bee, all around the town.

The babies on the bus go wah wah wah, wah wah wah, wah wah wah. The babies on the bus go wah wah wah, all around the town.

The mommies on the bus go shh shh shh, shh shh shh, shh shh shh. The mommies on the bus go shh shh shh, all around the town.

The children on the bus go up and down, up and down, up and down. The children on the bus go up and down, all around the town.

    More easy Maisy Party Ideas

  • Have an instrument parade – drum, maracas, cymbals, kazoos
  • Play pin the nose on Maisy
  • Play Dress up - something Maisy does in one of her stories
  • Read a Maisy book
  • Play Hullaballoo. This is a really fun game you can buy. You can also play your version of the game if you don't have it. Place colored spots randomly on the floor, play music and let everyone move from spot to spot while music plays. When the music ends, everyone should land on a spot. Then make an announcement, such as "everyone on a purple spot clap your hands." Keep playing until everyone has had at least one turn to land on the lucky color spot.
  • For a fun Maisy cake design, cover your cake with colorful Neco wafers.
