All women, whether young or old, love being pampered.

So a kid spa party is naturally a popular birthday party theme! Your party can take on several forms: a Makeover Party, A Spa Retreat, or a combination of the two.

To go with the theme, for a decadent cake you could do chocolate dipped strawberries over a chocolate cake, or you could go for something really cute, like a bathtub cake.

Easy Kid Spa Party Ideas and Games

Makeover Party

Just like it sounds - give all the guests makeovers! New hairstyles, manicures/pedicures, and a great makeup job.

Rather than doing a party at home, a friend took her party guests to the local beauty college to get pampered by professionals.

You can also do this at home with friends, other moms, or hired teenagers doing the makeovers.

Before and after pictures are fun for this type of event!

Make some fun makeup - like making your own lipgloss.

Bring fashion into it! Cut photos out of magazines and design your own outfits on posters.

Spa Retreat Party

Just as it sounds, you can do a spa retreat type party.

With this, you'd do all the things you would want to do at a spa - a gentle back massage, a pedicure or manicure, and resting with cucumbers on your eyelids.

You can even throw in a hairdo redo if you want!

My friend Christy had a party like this and guests made colored bath salts and decorated flip flops (to show off their pedicures.)

Here's how to make bath salts:

You will need:

  • 1 cup epsom salts
  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 2 cups baking soda
  • essential oils Here's how to do it:
Combine the first three ingredients in a large bowl, then add 4 teaspoons of essential oil. Stir. You may even tint the bath salts if you wish. Just add 10 drops of food coloring to the bowl after you add the essential oils, and stir. She bought the glass jars at the dollar store. She said you can use all epsom salts (much cheaper) or all sea salts or any combination. At the party, they used about 1/4 sea salts and 3/4 epsom and didn't use that much baking soda - but they still turned out great!

  • Fun Girl Games at a Kid Spa Party

Here are some fun kid party games that you may want to include:

Makeup Artist - You’ll need makeup: lipstick, loose powder and blush. Stay away from things that could injure an eye, such as eye shadow (unless applying with a cotton ball) and no mascara (too scary to try to do!). Divide players into teams. One player is the model, and their teammate is the make up artist. The makeup artist has 2 minutes to put makeup on their model. But must do it blindfolded! The other players who aren’t taking their turn can give out directions on what to do – “higher, lower, over to the left,” etc.!

Suitcase Relay - Often used as slumber party games, this fun game will work for any makeover or fashion type party!

    Spa Party Favors

These party favors would be adorable to give out at your kid spa party! Simply fill a cup with bath salts, add a bath spongy on top, and a little red pompom on top of that. It looks like a cupcake or other sweet treat! Easy and cheap to make too!

    Mani Pedi Day
    By Kiara, Alberta
You can create buckets with warm water in them (for the girls to put their feet in) and get cute towels out. Bring all your nail polish out and put it on a tray in display and get cuticle care supplies. Put this all in a private room with a separate chair for each girl. Decorate the room with any one or two colours you would like (two colours maximum). Make the room look like an actual spa, fold towels nicely somewhere in the room, display nail care products, and nail related posters all in the colours you chose. Then you can treat the girls to a nice spa day.
