Let me tell you about my friend Audrey and her kitty litter cake. Audrey is so much fun - always with a smile on her face, and always on the hunt for something that will make her friends smile too!

At our bunco game one month, she brought a surprise. She had been telling us that she wanted to make a special cake! And let me tell you... it was it special!

Would you eat this?

Kitty Litter Cake

Seriously, if this was served to you, would you eat it? Lots of folks did and they said it was very good. But...as a cat owner who regularly deals with the kitty litter, I just couldn't do it!

It was even served with a kitty litter scooper!

Kitty Litter Cake Recipe

Here is Audrey's recipe for her kitty litter cake.

Cat Litter Cake Ingredients:
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls

Cat Litter "Dishes and Utensils"
1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper
(Notice the word "NEW" - very important!)

  • Bake cake mixes according to directions.
  • Prepare pudding and chill.
  • Crumble cookies in small batches. You can do this in blender or food processor if you like. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar.
  • When cakes are cool, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture. Now comes the part I just couldn't get past...
  • Unwrap 6 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Bury the rolls. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.
  • Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box.
  • Heat the last Tootsie Roll until soft and hang it over the edge of the box. Yuck!
  • Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper.
  • Enjoy?!
  • So like I said, everyone who ate it, loved it...but everyone agreed it was riot and something I don't think we'll forget in a hurry!
