Sugar Cookie Recipe

Here is a great recipe for sugar cookies to use with a cookie decorating party! Or perhaps you are going to a cookie exchange party and need lots of cookies.
To make homemade sugar cookies from scratch you will need...
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
For Icing:
Powdered Sugar
Milk
Food coloring
Sprinkles
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt.
Cover and chill dogh for at least one hour.
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 400F.
Put flour down on a surface where you will roll out your dough.
Roll out dough to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in oven.
Cool before decorating.
Decorate with an icing made of powdered sugar and milk and sprinkles.
Eat and enjoy!
