The paper, you see, is infused with flower seeds. I was curious about it and looked into it. Creating paper that can be planted is not too difficult. So...

Making Plantable Paper

Making paper that you can plant is a fun craft that is also a great way to recycle.

You can make the paper and then turn it into party invitations, which would be a great first step towards making your party green.

Then, when planted, your invitations should grow beautiful into wildflowers!

Plus, think of the great conversation piece your invitation will become!

These are the items that you'll need to make your paper:

  • Large Bowl of warm water
  • Packet of wildflower seeds
  • Blender
  • 9 x 13 baking pan
  • 6 x 10 inch piece of window screen, with edges covered in masking tape
  • And...This is how you make paper that you can plant:

  • Let the scraps of paper soak in the warm water overnight.
  • Place the paper in the blender and fill blender half way with water, then blend until it is thick and soupy.
  • Place the screen in the bottom of the baking pan, add some water, then pour in the blended paper.
  • Add the wildflower seeds and mix well.
  • Distribute the blended paper and wildflower seeds across the screen evenly.
  • Lift the screen gently, so that the blended paper and seeds remain, but the water stays in the pan.
  • Lay the screen out to dry for at least 24 hours.
  • You may need to keep moving it from towel to towel so it can dry underneath.
  • When dry, remove from screen. You've just made paper you can plant!

  • By the way, if you really want to use paper that you can plant, but decide not to make it, Beau-coup has lots of options for paper and favors that are plantable and ec0-friendly that you can purchase easily.
