What a great theme for a party... A Model Theme Party!
Here are some ideas to get you started on the runway to party success!
Invitations and Decorations for a Model Party:
Make your invitation a “casting call” notice for models. For decorations hang up photos of high fashion models (taken out of magazines)
Make your invitation a pretend ticket to an international, fashion capital destination. Perhaps Milan, Paris or New York. Place posters and signposts for that city around your party room.
Activities & Games for a Model Party:
Have your own fashion show – Divide into teams and have them come up with outfits within a certain amount of time. Use newspaper or craft paper, tape and scissors to creat your masterpiece. Then model on a runway. Award prizes for the best. (Rather than newspaper, you could give them scarves, an odd assortment of clothes in a box to sort thru, or even toilet paper to make their creation!
An even better makeover is to play the Makeup Artist Game. You’ll need makeup: lipstick, loose powder and blush. Stay away from things that could injure an eye, such as eye shadow (unless applying with a cotton ball) and no mascara (too scary to try to do!). Divide players into teams. One player is the model, and their teammate is the make up artist. The makeup artist has 2 minutes to put makeup on their model. But must do it blindfolded! The other players who aren’t taking their turn can give out directions on what to do – “higher, lower, over to the left,” etc.!
Models need to be able to talk, so play the Keep Talking Game- You’ll need a bowl full of words written on slips of paper. Words should be things…such as tree, table, traffic light, broccoli, etc., and a timer. To play, have a player pull out a slip of paper, which will be their “topic”. Have them talk about their “topic” for two minutes, without getting off-topic! After their two minutes is up, have the next person take a turn.
Photo Fun - Divide players into teams, with each team using a digital camera. Give each team a list of photos to take. Some ideas are...the team pretending to sleep, of the team dancing, of the team doing yoga, etc. Whatever you can think of that will make a crazy photo! Make sure the different players take turns being the photographer so everyone gets a turn to be photographer and models!
Have a real photo shoot! Take photos yourself, or if you have the budget have a photographer (or photography student) come in and do a photo shoot with each guest.
Models are celebrities, and stories about celebrities are always in the papers. Play the
Truth is Stranger than Fiction Game
to try to figure out which stories are true!
