I'm often asked about easy party food to serve at a fun party or special event.

Unless it is a dinner party, with everyone eating a meal, it is usually a great idea for food to be set out on a table for guests to "graze" as they get hungry.

Easy Food to Serve

Here is my list of party food ideas and easy finger foods that I like to serve, along with some additions from some of my "hostess with the mostess" friends!

  • Baked Brie
  • Cheeses
  • Sliced fruit
  • Snack Mix (such as Chex) (see the "Trash" mix recipe further down on this page)
  • Dips
  • Shrimp
  • Cocktail Sausages
  • Ham & Cheese Rolls
  • Antipasta
  • Chips
  • Mini Quiches
  • Breads
  • Crackers
  • Cookies or brownies.
  • Of all the appetizers I usually set out, the two that will always go immediately are the Mini Quiches (you can purchase at stores such as Sam's), and the Cocktail Sausages. To make the Cocktail Sausages, you just purchase packages of cocktail weinies, toss in a crockpot and cover with BBQ sauce. Voila! Everyone loves it!

Don't feel like you need to get everything on the list. This is just a list of possibilities for your party buffet.

    Important notes:

    1. A word about cheese - it will dry out. Only set out small amounts at a time. Nothing worse than taking a bite out of dried up cheese!
    2. Shrimp can be set out on a bed of ice, or served from a bowl, such as Nambe, which will retain it's cool temperature and keep the food safe to eat.
    3. For cakes - preslice the cake and have some pieces already out on plates so they are easy to grab. Cookies, brownies and cupcakes are nice because they come already in portions.

    Easy Party Food Recipe

Here is an easy recipe called "Trash!"

Talk about easy...all you have to do is...

    Mix in a large bowl:

    • 1 box each of Rice Chex, Bugles, sesame sticks, pretzels, cheese crackers

Then mix and heat the sauce ingredients together in a sauce pan:

    • 1 stick butter
    • 2 cups bacon drippings
    • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tsp. Lowrey's seasoned salt
    • 3 Tablespoons garlic salt
    • 2 to 7 Tablespoons of Tabasco sauce

Pour the sauce over the first mixture. Spread evenly on baking sheets and bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes.
