Cake Balls

A dessert that is really popular right now is to serve cake balls.


Tita's Flan

Equipment:

  • 8 inch deep cake pan
  • large roasting pan where cake pan can be placed with an inch of hot water surrounding it (water bath)

    Topping:
  • Cook 1 cup of sugar in cake pan- until a medium carmel color (not to dark - bitter taste)
  • Put cake pan in ice water to prevent further cooking

    Filling:
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 can of sweet condensed milk
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • 1 package of Philadelphia cream cheese soften
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • a shot of rum

  • Preheat oven at 325 degrees. Blend all the ingredients. Pour filling on top of caramelized sugar. Place cake pan in larger dish (roasting pan) in oven, then pour an inch of hot water in roasting pan (water bath). Cook for 1 hour. Remove flan dish and let it cool. Put a cover /(aluminum foil) and stick in refrigerator for at least 8 hours.

    Orale, sabroso!

    Cheesecake Brownies

  • 1 box fudge brownie mix
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • Prepare brownie mix as directed on package and pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. beat cream cheese with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Add sugar, mixing until blended. Add egg and vanilla. Mix just until blended. Pour cream cheese mixture over brownie mixture. Cut through batter with knife several times for a marble effect. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until cream cheese mixture is lightly browned. Cool and cut into squares to serve.

     

    Turtle Cake

    Cake:

    • 1 German Chocolate Cake Mix
    • 1 stick margarine
    • 1 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 cup oil
    • 1 can Eagle Brand Milk
    • 1 cup pecans, chopped
    • 1 package kraft caramels

    Frosting:

    • 1 stick margarine
    • 3 Tablespoons cocoa
    • 6 Tablespoons evaporated milk
    • 1 box powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    Cake: Combine cake mix, margarine, water, oil and 1/2 can Eagle Brand Milk. Pour 1/2 of the batter ina greased and floured 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 30 degrees for 20 - 2 minutes. Melt caramels with rest of Eagle Brand. Spread over baked layer. Sprinkle with nuts. Cover with remaining cake batter. Bake 2 to 3 minutes longer. Allow cake to cool.

    Frosting: Combine margarine, cocoa and milk in saucepan. Heat until margarine is melted. Remove from heat and gradually add sugar and then vanilla. Spread over colled cake.
